1. moonlight mule

The moonlight mule is a virgin version of the Moscow mule. And in place of the vodka, you’ll use sparkling water for a thirst-quenching satisfaction could be second to none.

 2. sleepy sangria

Sangria is a staple for many Spain-bound holiday makers and wine-enthusiasts in general. But here, we get rid of the booze and replace it with a combination of herbal tea, cranberry juice, and apple juice.

Ingredients:

  • 240ml brewed herbal tea (chamomile or berry blend works well)
  • 120ml cranberry juice
  • 120ml apple juice
  • Sliced oranges, apples, and berries for garnish

Method:

Mix the brewed herbal tea, the cranberry juice, and the apple juice in a jug. Chill if in the refrigerator for (at least) an hour. Then serve this bedtime mocktail in an ice-filled glass. Finish off this refreshingly tasty treat by garnishing it with some of those sliced fruits from earlier and then enjoy your sangria-inspired creation before climbing into bed.

3. lavender lemonade

Vodka lemonade is a drink of choice in the summer for many Brits. But what if you could replace the alcohol to protect your sleep but still enjoy a really refreshing beverage? You can!

Ingredients:

  • 240ml lemonade (homemade or from a bottle you bought in a supermarket is fine)
  • 120ml sparkling water
  • 1 teaspoon culinary lavender buds
  • Lemon slices to garnish

Method:

Steep the teaspoon of lavender buds in the lemonade for about 10-15 minutes. Then strain the mixture. Add the sparkling water and mix. Finish by serving over ice and garnish with lemon slices. Then all that’s left to do is enjoy your fragrant and floral twist on the classic refreshing summer staple.

4. midnight mint mocha

The midnight mint mocha will be a firm favourite amongst coffee-enthusiasts and lovers of mint-chocolate alike. While this is a mocktail that’s ideal for one of those cracking the flags summers’ days, we should mention that its important to avoid caffeine for several hours before bedtime – especially if you’re susceptible to sleep disruption from caffeine. If that sounds like you, maybe reserve this recipe for an early afternoon treat instead.

  • 120ml oat milk (or milk if you prefer)
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Method:

Combine the chilled coffee with the oat milk, cocoa powder, peppermint extract, and maple syrup (if you’re using it) in a blender. Then blend the ingredients until smooth and frothy. Pour into a glass (or mug if you prefer) and garnish with fresh mint leaves for a decadent treat.

Note: If this sounds like an idea bedtime treat to you, switch out the coffee for a decaffeinated alternative.

5. dreamy vanilla chai

Ahhh the sweet, soothing scent of vanilla chai is a great way to enjoy a warm drink at bedtime, especially if you choose a caffeine-free variety.

Ingredients:

  • 1 mug brewed chai tea

  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon sticks for garnish
