A round up of books for Autumn 2024 that eve's well-read club enthusiast are sure to adore.
the well read club: books to read this *autumn*

Want to join our well-read club? We don’t blame you. It’s been a hot minute since we sat down to talk all things books and we thought what better time than when Summer is soon to wave us goodbye (we’re not crying, promise!).

Whilst the Summer months often bring an excuse to get out in the great outdoors and enjoy the sunshine (unless your unlucky enough live in the north!), there’s no better feeling than hibernating indoors during the cold and rainy season and cosying up by a fire or on your eve mattress, in your snuggest pjs with a book in hand.

If you didn’t already know, reading before bed or anytime for that matter has numerous benefits. Take a peek here if you want to know more. Some nifty research (1) also found that reading for at least 30 minutes per day is proven to increase your health and well-being (which is seriously needed during those darker months!).

Books to keep you busy during the autumn months

1. It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

The book (and author!) that has taken the world by storm. Recently adapted into a film, it follows Lily Bloom’s journey of love, loss, and self-discovery as she navigates her life after college chasing her lifelong dream of opening her own business. Get your tissues at the ready.

2. This Is Why We Lied by Karin Slaughter

Not long to wait now for this brand new book in the much loved Will Trent series. Investigator Will Trent and medical examiner Sara Linton are enthused to spend their honeymoon at the remote mountain resort, McAlpine Lodge. Until on a stormy night with the road washed out, Mercy McAlpine, manager of the Lodge, is murdered. Questioning the guests and the McAlpine family, Will and Sara quickly realize everyone is lying, lies they must untangle before the killer strikes again (2). If you’re a lover of all things crime and thriller, we know this one’s for you.

3. Piglet by Lottie Hazell

For Piglet (a childhood nickname she can’t get rid of) getting married is her opportunity to reinvent. Together, Kit and Piglet are the picture of domestic bliss – effortless hosts, planning the wedding everyone dreams about... but when something looks or sounds too good to be true, it usually is (5).

4. The Housemaid Is Watching by Freida McFadden

The third and final book in this thrilling series arrived this Summer, and it's causing such a stir that the other books in the series are also becoming even more popular too. The series tells the story of a young girl who is homeless and in need of a job. When she gets hired by Nina and Andrew as a live-in housemaid/nanny she believes she has found her dream job. But soon she realizes that working for Nina is way more hard work than anticipated (4).

5. Intermezzo by Sally Rooney

By the author of the renowned book and series, this brand new book lands in September 2024. Two brothers navigate the chaos and happiness of love after the passing of their father and dealing with the grief that comes with losing a family member (6).

final thoughts

As summer gives way to Autumn, these books are some of our favourite up and coming titles for bookworms everywhere. Picture yourself curled up on the sofa (or in bed) with a snuggly duvet to keep you warm, a steamy mug of hot chocolate in hand, and the golden leaves tumbling in the wind outside.

Sounds like bliss to us! We hope you enjoy our Autumnal reads round up.

Until next time, eve sleep.
